Mrs. Abell’s teaching career began as the first full-time lay
teacher at St. Dominic School. After teaching for a number of
years, she decided to stay home and raise her family while
continuing to be a substitute teacher at both St. Dominic School
and Washington County. After the death of her husband, Dickie,
Mrs. Abell returned to the classroom as an instructional assistant
in 1991. She is the mother of four children--Chuck, Jane,
Michael and Leonard--and the proud grandmother of nine. |

Mrs. Smith has been the Office Manager at St. Dominic School since January 2011. Prior to coming to St. Dominic, she worked in the Washington County School system as Secretary/Records Clerk at Washington County High School for 31 years. Mrs. Smith said that one of the things that she enjoys the most here at St. Dominic is having the opportunity to meet the children of the students who went to Washington County when she was there. Mrs. Smith is married to Bill Smith and has two children: Michele, who teaches at Washington County High School and William Brian, who is married to Tiffany and teaches at West Marion Elementary. She also has two grandsons, Jerod and Bryce. In her spare time Mrs. Smith enjoys cooking, shopping, going to football games and spending time with her family. |

Mrs. Breunig has served as Principal since 2002. Prior to coming to St. Dominic, she taught English at Marion County High School for nine years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University, a Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky and a Rank I in Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. A Marion County native, Mrs. Breunig attended St. Augustine Grade School and Marion Co. High School. She lives in Springfield with her husband, Larry, and two sons, Jack and Reed, who are students at St. Dominic. She is an avid UK fan (Go Cats!) and especially loves attending UK football games and tailgating with her family. She also enjoys watching her children play sports.

Mrs. Carey has been teaching Social Studies and Language Arts at St. Dominic for nine years. She taught 31 years in the public school system. Mrs. Carey is a graduate of Willisburg High School, Campbellsville University and did graduate work at the University of Kentucky (Go CATS!). She and her husband of 43 years, Ben, have two children and five grandchildren. Mrs. Carey is an active member of Cornerstone Christian Church. Reading and gardening are favorite past times of both the Careys. Every Friday night, you’ll find them at the Bardstown Opry, the home of great country music. |

Mrs. Carney began as the Director of St. Dominic’s After School Program (ASP) in 2007, and this year she became the school’s first Preschool teacher as well. “Mrs. Amanda” is married to Davis Carney and they have two sons, Drew and Haydon. Drew is in the fourth grade at St. Dominic. Mrs. Carney graduated from St. Catharine College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Liberal Arts. She loves to spend time with her family, read and shop in her spare time. |

Mrs. Chelf has been teaching at St. Dominic for 10 years.
Prior to her years at St. Dominic, Mrs. Chelf spent 29 years in
the Marion County public school system where she taught
grades K-4 and Special Needs. She is a graduate of Brescia
College in Owensboro and Eastern Kentucky University. She
lives with her husband, Frank, in Lebanon; they have three
children--Amy, Erin and Trey--and two grandsons, Bryan and
Teagan. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, spending time
with her family and taking part in community theatre, most
recently at The Opera House in Springfield. |

Mrs. Ellery has been teaching Religion and Math at St. Dominic since 2003. Before coming to St. Dominic, Mrs. Ellery taught Math and Language Arts at St. Charles Middle School in Marion County for 29 years. She is married to John “Willie” Ellery and has a daughter, Launie. They have two wonderful grandchildren, Zyi and Kobe. Mrs. Ellery resides in Springfield. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family. She is also an avid U of L fan and loves to travel. |

Mrs. Fattizzi has been the Music & Drama teacher at St. Dominic since 2006. Before coming to St. Dominic, she was Musical Director at three theatres in Central Florida, cast young people in commercials and other advertisements for Universal Studios Orlando and taught children’s theatre for 11 years. Married to Scott Fattizzi, she has two sons, Bobby and Jack. In addition to her work at St. Dominic, Mrs. Fattizzi is the Children’s Theatre director and Main Stage Musical Director for the Central Kentucky Community Theatre. In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, horseback riding and spending time with her family. She is an avid fan of the UK Wildcats and the Orlando Magic. |

Mrs. Fenwick has been the Health/P.E. teacher at St. Dominic School since 2002. She is also employed part-time at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home as a licensed embalmer and funeral director. She is married to Steve and has two children, Dallas and Teresa. Mrs. Fenwick spends her spare time as a St. Dominic CCD teacher, Youth Group leader, K4J activity leader, Grief Support leader and girls’ basketball and softball coach. She is an avid U of L fan, enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Fenwick also loves turtles. |

Mrs. Graves started working at St. Dominic this year as the Preschool Assistant and Assistant Director of the After School Program (ASP). “Mrs. Crystal” has been married for six years to Michael Graves and has one daughter, Celeste, who is in the Pre-K class at St. Dominic. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from St. Catharine College. In her spare time, Mrs. Graves enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor activities and reading. |

Mrs. Graves has been teaching at St. Dominic School since 1996. She also taught preschool at Small World Daycare in Springfield for eight years. She is married to Tim and has two daughters, Elizabeth and Emilee, and one son, Jacob. They reside in Springfield. In her spare time, Mrs. Graves enjoys getting on the computer, reading, cooking and spending time with her family. She loves to travel all over the nation to watch and help her two youngest children show their Simmental cattle. Mrs. Graves graduated from Campbellsville University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She also received her Master’s degree from Campbellsville University. |

Mrs. Grider started teaching as a second career after having
worked as a bank examiner for the State and as an account
manager for Armour Foods. She currently teaches Technology
(K-8); Pre-Algebra (7th); Algebra (8th); and Language Arts
(8th). Mrs. Grider holds a Bachelor of Business Administration
with a concentration in Finance from the University of
Kentucky and a Masters in Teaching from Bellarmine University.
She attended St. Dominic School as did her husband,
Jerry, and her two sons, Bob and Mark. |

Mrs. Hooper has been St. Dominic School’s first and only Kindergarten teacher since 2007. Before coming to St. Dominic, Mrs. Hooper taught fourth grade at St. Catherine Academy in New Haven for two years. She is married to Billy and has one son, Braden, and a daughter on the way. She resides in Springfield. Mrs. Hooper is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, earning a degree in Elementary Education from there as well as a Masters in Reading and Writing. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, camping and spending time with her family. She is an avid UK fan and loves to attend UK basketball games. She also loves to travel, especially to Gatlinburg, TN. |

Mrs. Lynch has been an Instructional Assistant at St. Dominic School since 2000. Before coming to St. Dominic, she worked in banking. She is married to Tom Lynch and has one daughter, Emma Lou. They reside in Springfield. In her spare time, Mrs. Lynch enjoys reading, cooking, travel and spending time with her family. She is originally from Pennsylvania and returns there every summer to visit. |

Mrs. Mattingly has been the custodian and safety coordinator at St. Dominic School since 2005. Before coming to St. Dominic, Mrs. Mattingly returned to college at St. Catharine where she received her Associate in Applied Science degree, majoring in the Medical Office Assistant program. She is married to Tim and has two children, Travis and Lauren, and she resides in Springfield. In her spare time, Mrs. Mattingly enjoys quilting, sports, coaching and spending time with her family. |

Mrs. Polin has been a teacher at St. Dominic since 1975. She currently teaches third grade. Mrs. Polin received an Associate Arts degree from St. Catharine College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Cardinal Stritch College and her Masters degree from Butler University. She previously taught second grade for eight years in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her special interests are reading, playing cards, traveling and visiting with family and friends. |

Mrs. Porter has been a teacher at St. Dominic School since 1979. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky University. Having previously taught second, fifth and sixth grades, Mrs. Porter currently teaches the fourth grade. She is married to James Porter and enjoys playing cards, walking, sports and spending time with her nieces and nephews. |

Mrs. Spalding has been teaching for 21 years and has taught at St. Dominic School for 12 years. She teaches Science to grades five through eight and Language Arts to seventh grade. Mrs. Spalding believes the best part about teaching is the relationships that she has with her students. She has been married to Austin for 17 years and has two children, Shelby, age 16, and JoHanna, age 13. Mrs. Spalding’s favorite past time is spending time with her family. She also loves to read, bake, watch her girls play sports and repair antique picture frames. |

Mrs. Spaulding has been a teacher at St. Dominic School since 1974. She is a graduate of St. Catharine College, having received an Associate Arts degree in Business. She also received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky University. She teaches second grade and previously taught fourth grade for 26 years. As the second grade teacher, Mrs. Spaulding is also the sacramental coordinator for students in the second grade making their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. She is married to Reed Spaulding III and has two sons, Reed IV, married to Ashley, and Robert Taylor. She resides on a small farm in Springfield. Her special interests are reading and traveling. She also likes caring for her granddog, Wendy. |

Mrs. Walker is the Title I Reading/Literacy teacher at St. Dominic. She has been at St. Dominic for nine years. Before working at St. Dominic, Mrs. Walker taught for 27 years in the Washington Co. School system. She is married to Eric Walker and has two children, Joshua (Jacqueline) and Erica. She has one grandson, Ethan, who will attend St. Dominic in the very near future. Some of Mrs. Walker’s hobbies include reading, walking for exercise and watching movies on the Hallmark Channel. She loves UK but is not allowed to watch them play on TV because they always lose when she does! |
